Thank you for considering studying Aikido with Fudoshin Aikikai!
If you have never practiced a martial art before, it may be quite daunting to attend your first class. We understand — we’ve all been there! If you’d like to attend a class simply to observe before actually trying it out, you are welcome to do so.
When you are ready to step onto the mats, we recommend you wear clothing that allows you to move freely, like yoga pants or sweat pants and a T-shirt. Aikido is practiced in bare feet on padded mats. Your first three classes are free of charge and there is absolutely no pressure for you to join.
You will be asked to fill out a registration form and waiver. Aikido is a physical activity that involves contact with other practitioners and controlled falls on gymnastics mats. Injuries are rare and consist mostly of minor musculoskeletal sprains. Teachers carefully monitor students’ progress and students advance at their own speed. Safety is foremost on our minds!
