Now that pandemic restrictions are being lifted, we are returning to St. Theresa School! Classes will resume on Monday and Wednesday evenings, but at a new time: 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, and Saturday mornings at the same time, 9:00 am to 10:30 am.
Aikido is a series of effective conflict resolution techniques that are useful for resolving issues that have escalated to a physical dimension.
Aikido techniques can neutralize physical attacks without causing undue harm to the attacker.
Live your life to the fullest with confidence in your abilities to address any type of conflict that you may face.
“Fudoshin” means “still heart” in Japanese. It refers to the spirit with which the practitioner should face aggression, be it physical or psychological: with courage and serenity.
Fudoshin is a non-profit, member-owned organization dedicated to promoting and disseminating knowledge about the wonderful martial art of Aikido.
Fudoshin Aikikai is owned by its members and operated for the benefit of its members. Any profits are reinvested to further strengthen and expand the Dojo as well as to host seminars
To provide safe, affordable and inclusive practice to all who wish to learn Aikido.
Aikido does not depend on brute strength to neutralize an attack. Instead, it focuses on coordination, balance, movement and flexibility.
There are no contests or competitions in Aikido; you merely need to demonstrate mastery of the techniques to advance in grade.
- All instructors have attained various black belt levels sanctioned by Hombu Dojo in Japan.
- All have provided RNC clearance for conduct and vulnerable persons.
- Safety and providing a safe space are our primary concerns.
Until the pandemic situation stabilizes, we will adopt the following procedures: Wear your N-95 face mask during class. If you forget your mask, we will have some on hand for free. If you feel yourself running out of breath wearing your mask, simply step off the mats to another part of the gym and take off your mask until you feel comfortable returning. We will have hand sanitizer available and encourage you to use it before changing partners. We will wipe down the mats (as well as the doorknobs) after class with anti-viral cleaners. We will keep accurate records of attendance in case anyone contracts covid. Anyone who contracts covid is asked to let us know and we will inform everyone else who was at a recent class.
